Joining of paper or plastic bands - includes placing band ends on top of each other and forming slots to be hooked together

Procedure for joining together bands of material such as paper or plastic bands by which the ends of the bands joined together are slotted and hooked together in the slots. The ends which are placed on top of each other are sloted at the same time and subsequently one band is moved relatively to the other in longitudinal direction until the ends are hooked together in the slots. When a band is to be joined with a continuously running band the continuously running band is first stopped and the ends of both bands are provided with slots including an edge and an opposite edge. Thereafter the stopped band is restarted and the ends of both bands are hooked together by the edges and opposite edges of the slots.
