<p>1502631 Time switches ECONOMICS LABORATORY Inc 31 Jan 1975 [22 March 1974] 4307/75 Heading H1N [Also in Division G3] A wash programme controller comprises a continuous programme surface, such as 38, encoded with information representing district wash programmes and which can be driven at a first speed by a timer motor (174, Fig. 5, not shown) to actuate control means, such as cam followers 46 of switches (44, Fig. 3, not shown), to produce programme steps in time dependent sequence; and a continuous indexing surface 36 movable in positional correlation with the programme surface and having a plurality of laterally spaced tracks 34 each corresponding to a respective one of said wash programmes, and a plurality of respective sensing means, such as further switches (44), for sensing index points corresponding to the beginnings of respective programmes; and programme selection means, such as push-buttons 60, for enabling a respective sensing means corresponding to a selected programme and initiating a drive to the programme surface at a second, higher, speed until the appropriate index point is sensed by the enabled sensing means which then disconnects the fast indexing drive, powers the timer motor for drive at the first speed, and enables control means so that the selected programme may be performed. Circuitry using relays and separate drive motors for the two speeds is described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). Cam tracks 34 may be cut in a solid drum or provided by individually cut discs. Alternatively a movable band may be used. Instead of camming switches the indexing tracks may provide conductive portions defining the extent of a programme.</p> |
