Transmission losses in electronic switching networks (KF) are automatically compensated by amplifiers (V1 ... Vm) in that the latter amplify depending on existing DC resistances. To monitor the amplifiers (V1 ... Vm) for stability, an amplifier is short-circuited in a first test step by means of a test device (RPG); if it oscillates in this condition near the oscillation limit, the oscillation identifier (OD11 ... OD1m) assigned to each amplifier (V1 ... Vm) transmits a fault signal. In a second test step, the oscillation identifiers are also tested by connecting the amplifier in such a way that it oscillates.
