A battery of horizontal coke ovens which are connected to two gas-collecting mains extending alongside the battery, one of said mains having means for cleaning dust-laden gases emitted from the coke ovens during charging with coal without the use of a flushing liquor and incorporating means for inhibiting the condensation of tar-based matter in the gas. The invention also relates to a method for operating such a battery of horizontal coke ovens. |
