The guide consists of a number of spiral wires mounted parallel to each other each forming a single turn of helix on the winding drum. Each spiral turn is located rigidly by means of welded sleeves on the outside of the spiral. Each of the spirals is cut into two or three parts so that they can be mounted over the drum. The portions are bolted together by through bolts forming the bosses (7) and (8) and (5) and (6). An end ring is bolted onto the guide at the locating bosses (4).
