3-Oxo-eburnane analogues of formula (III) are new. In the formula where A is H; B is H,OH or together with C forms an oxo group; when B is H, C is OH, -CO2H, alkoxycarboyl, -CH2OH, or -CH2O2C:CH3; when B is OH, C is H or -CH2.O2C.CH3. Alternatively, A and B together may form an extra bond between C16 and C17; C is -CH2OH or alkoxycarbonyl. Specific cpds. are 3-Oxo-DELTA 14,15-vincamine and 3-oxo-DELTA 14,15apovincamine. Used for treatment of blood circulation disorders, but mainly as intermediates which give vincamines on redn.
