Applying metallic contact layer to wound capacitors - using rip cord to remove masking foil after spraying with the metal

The nearly completed wound capacitor receives a final paper or plastic foil turn which is feathered at the selvage to facilitate the removal of the surplus end. A rip cord is embedded in the turn and after the contact layer has been sprayed on, the cord can be pulled to remove the last turn. A clean surface for the capacitor is achieved as all excess metal is removed with the last turn.
