<p>An elastic float obturator (25) reciprocates vertically in a closed top cylinder (83) between respective upper and lower open and closed stations. The cylinder guide (83) locates in the tank with its open end (81) axially over and adjacent to the outlet (21) and embodies a lever (69) actuated air valve (63) in its closed top (55). When the tank is empty the spherical or conical float settles on and seals the outlet. The tank around the cylinder now fills with water effecting an air lock in the cylinder, this air pressure augmenting the obturation seal. Opening of the air valve (63) remove the air lock and allows water into the cylinder, thus unseating the float so flushing water flows through the outlet.</p> |
