Diazo cpds. of formula (I) are new In the formula Ru and R3 ar3 each H, Cl, Br OH or alkyl, alkoxy, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonylamino or alkoxycarbonylamino, Ri is H, benzoyl alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, or alkyl opt. substd. by halogen, OH, benzyloxy, phenoxy or alkoxy, R4 is NO2 or CN; R5 is Cl or Br, all alkyl alkoxy gps are 1-4C). (I) are disperse dyes for dyeing/printing high mol.wt. hydrophobic (semi/synthetic fibres and fabrics, esp. linear aromatic polyesters, polyamides, cellulose hemipenta- acetate and cellulos triacetate. Blue and red-blue shades are obtd. of good fastness to light, thermofixing, sublimation, creasing, and esp. to wet treatments, (water, washing, perspiration) solvents (partic. dry cleaning) overdyeing, rubbing, O3, Cl2, oiling, permanent press treatments, and soil-release treatments. Stability to reduction in dyeing with wool and reserve with wool and cotton are good.
