<p>A mechanical handling device has a manipulating arm and a pair of grips and means for moving the arm in a determined and modifiable volume. The arm can be moved in the direction of, and about, its axis, and has limited movement in a direction perpendicular to its axis. The various arrangements which allow movement of the arm may themselves be rotated in an horizontal plane and the assembly of these arrangements can be displaced vertically. The manipulator is used in foundries esp. when transferring hot castings to a press for removal of runners and burrs. By reducing the amplitude of movements at a certain level of the appts. it has been possible to reduce the power necessary for the motors.</p> |
