Chromium recovery from waste water - by treatment with barium carbonate and acetic acid

Cr is recovered from waste water by (a) treating with BaCO3 in a wt. ratio with Cr of 1.5-3.5:1 and acetic acid in a wt. ratio with BaCO3 of 1:2-4 an aq. medium at pH 3-6, (b) filtering with a first acid-resistant filter having openings of 0.5-6 u (c) recovering the Cr (d) removing Bn present by contacting Cr with H2SO4 (e) removing Ba by filtering through a second acid-resistant material and (f) collecting chromic acid effluent for use in Cr plating processes. Method has superior economic and non-polluting efficiency over prior systems.
