Intaglio- or flexo-printing of surfaces is effected with thermoplastic binder-contg. solvent-free printing inks solid at room temp. The inks are kept in molten condition in inkwells of printing device. The melted printing inks have viscosities =0.5 (0.05 to 0.3).Pa. sec. at the working temps. selected. The binders are synthetic resins, e.g. polyamides prepd. from dimerised fatty acid and opt. co-dicarboxylic acids and from monocarboxylic acdis and opt. cyclic anhydrides and equiv. quantities of diamines or diamine mixts. Binders have softening points 90-160 (90-140) degrees C. The polyamides may be replaced by polyesteramides prepd. from dimerised fatty acids and opt. co-dicarboxylic acids and from monocarboxylic acids and opt. cyclic anhydrides and equiv. quantities of diamines or diamine mixts. The inks adhere well to the printed surfaces. Standard printing machines can be used, fitted with heatable printing rollers and inkwells. High printing velocity can be achieved.
