The endless bucket elevator transports material between a lower and a higher level. Each bucket (9a) has followers at its sides, and these work in conjunction with guides (20) over at least part of the circuit, thus forcing them to follow a set path. The path may curve inwards between an upper and a lower position, towards the return run, and the followers may be in the form of rollers. The guides may be rails, the rollers having flanges so as to keep them running true. The elevator can have an endless belt, to which the buckets are fixed.
