The energy consumption of pocket calculators with solar energy cells supplies is minimised by only supplying the circuits with energy during the short interval that a computation is occuring A control pulse generator (S) produces a short duration impulse (0.15) when an arithmetic operation is initiated. The signal is used to close gates (S1, S3) to transfer information from input (E) to the arithmetic circuits (R) and to output to the drive display stages (S3). A main switch (S2) couples in the solar cells and allows the stored energy in a capacitor (C) to be made available for circuit use. An additional facility allows a measured external parameter to be entered and amplified, followed by conversion and display.
|
