The steel ribbed plate for railway track rail fixture incorporates a screw compartment, to hold a mushroom-headed screw, normally cut out and causing weakness in the most heavily stressedarea, and involving complex labour in the cutting process. Here the ribbed plate (1) has continuous thread course over its whole breadth and length. In manufacture a piece can be bent about its longitudinal axis to form a U-shaped groove (3') with parallel shanks (4) enclosing an angle of 120 deg. A mushroom-head cross-sectioned punch is pressed in, and the plate is pressed straight. Danger of fracture in the screw compartment area is reduced.
