The grinder-holder is for use on rotary stone-polishing power tools and has pivoting jaws (4) which grip the tapered face (10') of the grinder (10). The jaws pivot into the active position under the action of a conical nut (9) which screws down a threaded (1a, 1b) flanged adaptor (1) mounted on the tool drive shaft (2a). The jaws pivot relative to the adaptor. When viewed normal to the axis of the drive shaft the jaws have an annular segmental form, and in radial section comprise a radial plate with opposed returns (4c, 4d) at opposite extremities. The inner return (4d) forms a collar by which the jaws are bound to the adaptor.
