<p>Mfg. abrasive polishing cloths is carried out by incorporating an abrasive powder in a layer of synthetic foam, comprising the layer of foam and heating it to maintain it in the compressed state. The abrasive powder is pref. incorporated by dusting >=1 of the surfaces of the layer of uncompressed foam, or by mixing it with the synthetic constituents of the foam prior to expansion, or by mixing it with a carrier prod. and depositing the mixt. on the synthetic foam layer prior to compression. By mixing the powder with a carrier prod. pref. a liquid or paste, the proportion of powder can be increased as it is distributed both over the surface and within the foam. The carrier prod. may consist of a polyurethane varnish.</p> |
