A model kit is used as an aid to determine the optimum layout of power plant installation. Models of the varius areas of a power plant are produced as self-contained box sections (11) e.g. turbines (8), boilers (8), reactors (9), etc. The slide in units are placed in the housing (3) and interconnecting pipes (10) and valves added. The complete installation housing and slide in units are manufactured from a transparent material.
