摘要 <p>The flowmeter for fluid and gaseous media consists of an inlet pipe (1) which passes into the inner chamber of a coaxial cylindrical housing to which is connected an outlet pipe (4). The inner end of the inlet pipe is sealed off but it has a number of radial slits (2) forming a whirling nozzle. In the inner chamber is a ball (5) which rolls around the chamber under the action of the vortex produced by the inlet nozzle at a speed which is proportional to the rate of flow through the device. With suitable choice of materials for the ball, its action can be made virtually frictionless. Its motion is detected by an inductive, photo-electric, radiation or other pick-up placed on the outside of the circulating chamber.</p>
