Four stroke IC engine with rotating ring timing gear - has coplanar radial pistons inside ring and coplanar double throw crankshaft

The 4-stroke Ic engine with rorating ring timing gear has four co-planar pistons (7) reciprocating radially with respect to a central crankshaft (19) with co-planar throws (17, 18). The pistons have connecting rods (15, 16) - one (16) forked. Power from the other pistons is transferred by links (13, 14) from their gudgeon pins to those (32) in the con rods. The whole is mounted inside a double annular casing (1, 2) which also serves to guide and seal a cylindrical timing ring (22) driven at half engine speed from the crankshaft. Peripheral grooves in this ring communicate with inlet (20) and outlet (21) openings in the casing respectively. Radial ports (25) permit appropriately timed flow to/from the cylinders. The ring also carries an ignition device (27).
