<p>The piston engine configured for internal stepless torque variation has several annular mounted cylinders (2) parallel to the axis of the output shaft (9), in a common casing (1). Power from the cylinders is transmitted to a spider (16) on a shaft linking a centrally mounted universal coupling (3) to a crankar (10) on the output shaft. A piston (6) - and - cylinder (5, 7) arrangement permits axial movement of the universal coupling. Grooves (19) in the crank arm allow the pin (18) linking spider shaft and arm to follow such movement, varying effective arm length and piston stroke. In the ultimate, control-, spider- and output-shaft are in line. A timing shaft (8) inside the central shaft is driven from the crankpin, free to rotate in the spider shaft.</p> |
