Liquid methylvinylphenylsiloxane resins are provided which are suitable for coating electrical conductors; they possess the particular advantage that the surfaces of such coatings can be crosslinked such that the surfaces are not sticky. These resins comprise recurring units chosen from the formulae: CH3SiO1.5, (CH3)2SiO, CH3(CH2=CH)SiO, CH3(C6H5SiO, C6H5SiO1.5 and (C6H5)2SiO and corresponding to the average general formula: (CH3)x(C6H5)y(CH2=CH)z(OQ)u(OH)wSiO 4-x-y-z-u-w 2 IN WHICH Q represents an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, x and y, which may be identical or different, each represent a number from 0.55 to 0.85, z represents a number from 0.08 to 0.35, u represents a number from 0.08 to 0.3, and w represents a positive number which does not exceed 0.1, the sum x + y + z being from 1.5 to 1.9, and having a functional group content E of from 2.5 to 2.9. |
