<p>On the mountain cable railway, cars rolling on fixed tracks can be coupled to a continuously circulating traction cable by a clamp, being uncoupled in stations for loading or unloading, and for trasition to the other track side. A carrier (20) for the traction cable clamp (21) is rotatably mounted on a horizontal axle (18), enabling it to swing freely into a vertical plane containing the traction cable (30). Locking devices are fitted, to lock the carrier in the horizontal setting before the clamp is uncoupled, and to release it on re-coupling. The advantages of single track circulation and twin large-cabin systems are combined.</p> |
