The drill bit (24) for a rock drill for quarrying, coal mining etc, has a brazed-in tungsten carbide tip (25) and a shank (26) which forms a shoulder (31) with the body (24). The shank has a circumferential groove (30) to receive a garter spring (33), the outside diameter of which is slightly greater than the bore of the socket (34). When the drill bit is pushed into the bore of the socket the coils of the garter spring are compressed radially until the groove (30) in the bit is aligned with the groove (29) in the socket. The coils expand into the groove (29) and retain the bit (24) in the socket (34).
|
