<p>Mixer for solids which will flow consists of a cup shaped vessel with cooled jacket over the base surface an agitator rotates. Above this are several stationary cooling elements. These are curved and inclined to the vessel axis and their upstream surfaces and nearer to the vessel wall than their down stream surface. Each cooling element lies on a surface which forms a straight line lying at an acute angle to the vessel axis. This angle remains constant but as the element proceeds around the vessel axis in one direction through a certain angle of rotation, then the intersect with the axis is displaced by a certain value. Adjoining elements can overlap in sectors covered by them. Used for mixing and simultaneous cooling of dusty, particulate, liquid or other materials which can flow esp. plastic blend agglomerates. The use of such elements is known. The system ensures that the elements are completely scoured by the material being mixed and thus optimum wt. transfer is achieved with the cooling time being consequently reduced.</p> |
