<p>The background against which the number is displayed, has a reflective layer covered by a layer of plastic in which glass microspheres are embedded. At least one of these layers is of more than one colour. The colours are pref. arranged in stripes, which should be equally visible by day and night. The plate is pref. held on by fasteners which are not re-usable, e.g. expanding rivets, and whose removal is only possible at the cost of damaging the number plate. The number plates are intended to be fixed to cars under official supervision only.</p> |
