The electrodes of an accumulator battery are immersed in the electrolyte and each is fitted with a current tap. Each electrode consists of a support plate carrying a porous active substance (11). On this substance is coated a metallic, conductive film (12) by hot metal spraying. The film serves for connection of the current tap (13) by spot welding. Preferably the sprayed metal film is in the form of a strip. For cadmium-nickel accumulators the sprayed metal film consists of a chromium-nickel alloy which is resistant to the electrolyte.
