A method of diagnosing in vitro an active infection caused by a microorganism, whereby the presence of said microorganism, and/or phagocytized parts thereof, exposed on white blood cells is determined in a sample of white blood cells separated from whole blood, is described. In the method use is made of either antibodies directed against said microorganism + anti-antibodies coated on carrier particles or antibodies directed against said microorganism coated on carrier particles. Detection of so-called rosettes is made in a light microscope. Additionally a diagnostic assay kit adapted to the method is disclosed. |
