Monitoring winding of material strands, especially winding electrically insulated wire into induction coils

The bobbins (3) carrying the wire supply are placed on a weighing arrangement (17 - 22) and the weights are continuously fed to a computer (24). A value is set for the lowest permissible amount on the bobbin for completing the winding of a coil (7) and an alarm signal is given when this value is approached. An Independent claim is also included for a method of continuous monitoring of the weight of the supply bobbins (3) to determine the currently available residue. Allowance is made for the disturbing influence of unwinding tension on the apparently observed weight.
