The metal strip is formed by a slide which moves to and for over a bed and pulls the strip through a forming arrangement in which the strip is formed in steps and the finished profile leaves the machine in predetermined lengths. The machine incorporates an automatic cutter which consists of a saw (2) which is driven by a motor (1). The profile is mounted on a carriage (4) on which it is held by clamps (3). The length of the profile to be cut is determined by a pneumatically operated stop (5). The stop is attached by rods (6) to the carriage.
