The load regulator of mixture compressing internal combustion engines has valve actuator. The cylinder charge is varied in relation to required loading, only by varying inlet time of a complete load range. The valve actuator has lever (11) rotating across the opening direction of the valve (2) and has a contact face (10). The lever is rotated by a cam (14) which can be adjusted by displacing its rotating axis (18) in the rocking direction of the lever (11) relative to the drive. The cam shaft (13) is guided eccentrically in a rotating bearing element.
