PURPOSE: To move jaws to a clamping position by allowing one end part of a compression spring to abut on an associated jaw to press it, and allowing the other end part to abut against an opposing thrust surface to bring the mounting frame into contact with an abutting part of a body. CONSTITUTION: Each spring 16 presses corresponding frames 7a, 7b in the direction of F until a checking-catching-up part 24 is brought into contact with an abutting part 25. At the same time, the spring 16 presses corresponding jaws 5a, 5b in the direction opposite to F to bring the jaws into contact with a cable 4. When two liquid-operated actuators move a body 2 of a clamping assembly 1 in the direction of F, the two jaws 5a, 5b are held by the cable 4 due to friction between the cable and the jaws. Thus, the jaws are firmly pressed against the cable by the body 2 by relative motion between inclined surfaces 3a, 3b, the body 2, and the two jaws 5a, 5b. |
