1496795 Extendable tines EATON CORP 24 Jan 1975 [1 Feb 1974] 3218/75 Heading B8H A fork assembly for a masted lift truck comprises a rotatable platform 12 with a carriage 14 movable therealong and telescopic tines 34, 36 mounted on the carriage and actuated by a drive assembly driven by a shaft 28 common to the drive of the carriage and including a lost motion to delay movement of the tines on movement of the carriage. The drive shaft 28 is mounted on the carriage and drives a sprocket 30 which engages with a chain 22 secured at its opposite ends to the platform 12 such that rotation of the shaft 28 effects movement of the carriage relative to the platform. A further sprocket (38) Fig. 3 (not shown) is also mounted on the shaft 28 and engages a chain 40 which has two driving members 48, 50 for engagement in slots 60, 62 in a plate 54 attached to the movable part 36 of the extendable tines. The driving members, in the fully retracted position of the assembly, as shown in Fig. 5, being spaced from the slots 60, 62 such that upon initial rotation of the shaft 28, the carriage is moved relative to the platform, but there is a lag in the movement of the tines relative to the carriage. Similarly upon retraction of the assembly the tines will reach their fully retracted position in advance of the carriage reaching its fully retracted position. |
