The flushing cistern is used for a water closet. The valve system for closing the outlet has a valve element which is lifted and it has seal and a float enclosing the valve elements. Optionally, smaller quantities of flushing water can be used. The central bore of the valve body carries an independently lifted tube (8). This tube has, on its lower end, a circumferential seal (9) which acts in conjunction with the valve seat (10) within the valve body (4). The valve body has flow openings above the valve seat. The tube (8) within the valve body is connected to an actuating lever arm which operates independently of the main valve body actuating lever.
