PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplexed optical network capable of performing a mass optical service with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: In this optical network having a plurality of hierarchized structures, the highest order network (1) is a ring network having a center node 21a and remote nodes 22a, 23a and 24a, an intermediate network (4) has a ring structure in which the network (4) defines the node 23a belonging to its higher order network (1) as a center node, the lowest order network (5) is a star network in which respective ONUs are directly connected to a housing station 25a for putting together traffics from a plurality of ONUs with optical fibers 70 with the station 25a as a center, a center node 21a belonging to the network (1) and the respective ONUs set up a direct communication path by using light beams respectively having a different wavelength, and nodes located between the node 21a and the respective ONUs perform amplification, branching or routing with an optical signal as it is without performing electrical processing. |
