Underfloor support frame for spare wheel - has L-shaped arms hinged at one end and with securing strap at other end

The spare wheel is slung under the vehicle in a cradle shaped frame comprising an L-shaped arm in an open loop. The short arm of the L is hinged under the car (3) while the free end of the long, horizontal section (8) is supportd by hinged straps (15) suspended from the vehicle. The wheel is further supported by a bracket (12) welded to the middle of the frame. The wheel is slid onto the frame when the frame end is dropped to the ground. Added security is provided by fitting bolts through the middle of the wheel and through the bracket. The frame is simple to produce and can be fitted with an anti-theft lock on the rear straps.
