The pre-fabricated chimney flue component comprises an earthenware inner pipe (1) and a heat-insulating layer (2). The layer (2) on the outside of the pipe (1) has an outer plastic foil wrapping (4) which compresses the layer. The wrapped layer pref. overlaps the pipe at one end of the component whilst at the other end the tube overlaps. The foil may be removable from the layer. The foil may have a parting line (5) parallel to the pipe centre, which line may be openable by a tear wire or similar. The edges (6) of the layer may be impregnated to prevent entry of moisture.
