<p>1461682 Rhythm generator NORLIN MUSIC Inc 27 March 1974 [17 Aug 1973] 13639/74 Heading G5J An electronic musical instrument has a rhythm generator 26 producing a plurality of different continuous series of discrete, non- overlapping pulses at times related to each other to form different rhythm patterns any one of which can be selected; a tone signal source (not shown) producing a plurality of tones one of which is selected, an amplitude modulator 16 to modulate the selected tone in response to some of the pulses from the rhythm generator, and a control connected to the rhythm generator, modulator and an output terminal to produce in response to certain pulses one output signal and in response to other such pulses another output, both outputs being from a plurality of output signals differing from each other in at least amplitude or wave shape. The result being a rhythmically modulated voiced tone signal. The rhythm generator may consist of a readonly memory with several outputs, one 30 being used to trigger a flip flop 32, the two states of which provide long and short decay times in the modulator 16. Flip flop 32 is reset at the end of the rhythmic cycle by line 34. Other pulses from rhythm generator 26 similarly control one flip flop which selects one of two tone colour filters and another flip flop which selects one of two maximum amplitude levels for the rhythmic sounds.
