1341565 Line throwing equipment SCHERMULY Ltd 28 May 1971 [11 Nov 1970] 53605/70 Headings F3X and F3A A line-throwing equipment comprises a housing 1, and a rocket discharger and flaked line 7 within the housing 1, the rocket discharger comprising at least three guide rails 11 (11a, 11b, Fig. 2, not shown) fixed relative to the housing 1 and each having a rocket guiding surface 12 located on a different generatrix of an imaginary circular cylindrical surface. The guiding surfaces 12 are spaced at eqaul or substantially equal intervals around the imaginary cylindrical surface. The guide rails may be welded or brazed to the internal surface of a metal tube 4 or the tube 4 may be of plastics material the guide rails formed integrally therewith. The line throwing equipment is further provided with a percussion igniter mechanism 20 secured to the housing, the mechanism including a spring-loaded striker 31 and a keeper member 39. The keeper member 39 works in a slot in the outer end of the striker 31 and is formed with a cam portion 43 which when drawn through the slot by a firing lever 48 firstly cocks the striker 31 and then releases it so that it strikes a percussion igniter 29 housed at the forward end of the percussion igniter mechanism. A rocket 14 is shown loaded into the equipment and is connected to the flaked line 7 by a stirrup 17 and a length of rope 18. Frangible closures 9, 52, 53 are provided at the forward end of the equipment. |
