An ice making machine has a cup shaped base mounted inside a casing and housing a circular evaporator with a set of a radial ice making ockets around its periphery. Both can be lifted by a spring housed inside a boss projecting upwards through the bases of both ports fitting together concentrically. The base can be lowered separately leaving the evaporator in a raised position for ice removal. The water used for ice making is also used to control the movements for ice removal. The bottoms of the ice pockets slope downwards towards the outside. The water is fed by an automatically operating valve. A screw through the top controls the travel of the boss on the evaporator and hence the height of the ice blocks.
