A grass sweeper comprises a brush shaft (48) divided into two sections (49) arranged end-to-end and independently rotated, so as to avoid the need for differential drives to accommodate turns. Each shaft section (49) projecting beyond the chassis (10) is driven by engagement with a driving wheel (13). The wheels (13) are freely rotatable on a shaft (20) carried by rods fixed to a shaft pivotable on the chassis (10) so that the wheels (13) can be engaged with and disengaged from the shaft sections (49). The shaft sections (49) are tubular and are removably mounted on a shaft supported by the chassis (10). The chassis comprises a front rear parts pivoted together about the brush shaft (48) by removable bearings, and adjustable by rotation of a threaded control rod (41) engaging a nut (43). Sweeping are received in a demountable tipping container (69).
