Process for centrifugally casting metal, esp. cast Fe tubes, in which the liq. metal under low pressure ascends into a fixed cylindrical chamber and is rotated at a centrifugal speed about the axis of this chamber by applying a rotating magnetic field. The liq. metal is shaped, sized and cooled. Since the pressure from below is maintained a solid tube is withdrawn from the top. Cast iron, steel, or Al Cu tubes can be cast. A core is not needed and hence friction is reduced. Extn. is quicker than with a core without producing cracks or fractures in the tube.
|
