<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid applicator which can flow/supply a coating liquid to an applying element by a stroke pressure during writing and prevent an ink from dripping by interrupting the outflow of the coating liquid, when the applied stroke pressure is strong. <P>SOLUTION: In this liquid applicator equipped with a valve mechanism part constituted of a first valve part which is always closed by the pressing force of a coil spring behind the applying element; a second valve part which is always opened behind the first valve part; and further, a main body container which contains the coating liquid behind the second valve part, the coil winding part of a coil spring is constituted of a region which is compressed to recede up to a suitable travel level, well adapted to the stroke, of the valve parts and a region which is compressed to recede by an appropriately strong pressing force. In addition, the applying element is transferred to the rear side by the stroke during writing and the first valve part is opened to the suitable travel level, so that the coating liquid can be supplied to the applying element side from the tip side of the main body container. At the same time, under the application of an appropriately strong pressing force, the applying element is transferred to the further backward side and the second valve part is closed.
