The internal-combustion engine, especially a large engine, has a multi-element engine housing whose elements are connected to one another via tie rods (1) which have devices (4) for combating bending oscillations which occur on them. Each tie rod (1) is clamped in in the region of at least one cross-sectional plane by means of supporting devices (4) which can be prestressed in a sprung manner. This ensures that the bending oscillations which occur on the tie rods (1) during operation of the internal-combustion engine are damped and, in addition, that automatic readjustment of the supporting devices (4) is provided in an advantageous manner. <IMAGE>
