<p>1495931 Separating Pt, Ir and Rh MATTHEY RUSTENBURG REFINERS (PTY) Ltd 6 Dec 1974 [7 Dec 1973] 56826/73 Heading C1A Platinum, Rhodium and Iridium are separated and purified from an aqueous solution of their salts by the steps of: (a) adjusting the pH, if necessary, to give an acidic solution; (b) contacting this with a reducing agent to reduce Ir (IV) to Ir (III); (c) contacting the reduced solution with a secondary or tertiary amine or a quaternary ammonium compound; (d) separating the organic phase containing the platinum; (e) re-oxidizing the iridium to Ir (IV) in the aqueous phase; (f) contacting the oxidized solution with a fresh quantity of a secondary or tertiary amine or a quaternary ammonium compound; and (g) separating the organic phase containing the iridium.</p> |
