Air bearing slide for inter mobile machine parts, e.g. chariot travelling on runners on parent machine, feeds air to the mobile part via a detachable element thereby improving accessibility for maintenance. The mobile part embodies a shallow rectangular sectioned block(3), the major surface (4)of which locates over the slip face of the fixed member(5) and contains a longitudinal inner duct (11) which connects to slip face apertures 16 to which air is fed via a transverse external tube(13). This detachable block fits a rectangular groove in the mobile(7) and is plate cottered thereto(8, 9) at each end preventing longitudinal movement. |
