<p>The joint requires one piece of pipe (T1) to have an interior annular shoulder (7), onto which fits an annular sealing ring (1). The other piece of pipe (T2) corresponds in section to the shoulder and the joint is made by forcing the two pieces of pipe together and compressing the sealing ring. The compression is maintained by using an adhesive for example with glass reinforced plastic pipes, and the compression causes the sealing ring to bulge inwards. The bulge forms an hydraulic continuity, devoid of corners, across the joint.</p> |
