A V-belt pulley is produced by deep drawing a thin metal disc to a cylindrical cup with a stepped dia. The cup is cut off at the open end to a given height by a parting tool. The stop between the two dias. is deformed to a re-entrant angle and a V-shaped roller is used to spin a V-shaped groove into the cup part with the larger dia. The cutting-off to length ensures that the posn. and dimension of the V-groove is precisely fixed. V-belt pulleys of high precision can now be mass produced at little expense.
