The tap changer is placed in a cylindrical oil tank with its fixed contacts protruding from the wall, and movable contacts are mounted on the inside of a cylinder rotatable about the cylindrical tank. The cylinder can take two basic positions, and is connected through a disconnectable gear transmission to the central driving shaft of the tap changer.
