<p>The automatic braking system for locomotives, with limited manual over-ride alows the train to be driven at the maximum permissible speed whilst still providing sufficient braking to bring it to rest within a minimum stopping distance. A braking signal provided by a control operated by the driver provides a fixed delay for the braking sequence set by a braking curve unit. The control is connected to an AND-gate together with the output of a limiter. The output of the gate controls a converter which scales down the pulses from the speed transducer by a factor which corresponds to the ratio of the operational braking delay to the least operational braking delay.</p> |
